It includes a sharp denunciation of those who stumble the little ones who believed in Jesus in verse 42, who stumble the little children who are welcomed in Jesus\u2019 name in verse 37 and who stumble those who give water to believers in verse 41.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-87sxr359\">\u99ac\u53ef\u798f\u97f3 9:38-50 \u7d00\u8f09\u4e86\u8036\u7a4c\u91dd\u5c0d\u4efb\u4f55\u5c0e\u81f4\u9580\u5f92\u72af\u7f6a\u7684\u4eba\u7684\u4e00\u7cfb\u5217\u6559\u5c0e\u3002\u5c16\u92b3\u7684\u8b74\u8cac\u5305\u62ec\u4e86\u5c0d\u7b2c42 \u7bc0\u4e2d\u90a3\u4e9b<strong>\u7d46\u5012<\/strong>\u76f8\u4fe1\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u5c0f\u5b69\u5b50\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u7b2c37 \u7bc0\u4e2d\u90a3\u4e9b<strong>\u7d46\u5012<\/strong>\u5949\u8036\u7a4c\u4e4b\u540d\u6b61\u8fce\u5c0f\u5b69\u5b50\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u7b2c41 \u7bc0\u4e2d\u90a3\u4e9b<strong>\u7d46\u5012<\/strong>\u7d66\u4fe1\u5f92\u4e00\u676f\u6c34\u559d\u7684\u4eba\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-o3qfq2900\">Jesus\u2019 warning marks clear danger for the faithful ones. Causing someone to lose faith is a serious matter. He sternly teaches that they would be better off losing a body part than committing a sin that would exclude them from the kingdom of God. This teaching certainly affirmed the righteousness that is greater than the scribes and Pharisees Jesus mentioned in Matthew 5:20, which was our daily devotion passage yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-0rcwp369\">\u8036\u7a4c\u5f88\u660e\u986f\u5730\u662f\u5c0d\u4fe1\u5be6\u7684\u4fe1\u5f92\u5011\u6240\u9762\u81e8\u7684\u5371\u6a5f\u63d0\u51fa\u4e86\u8b66\u544a\u3002<strong>\u4f7f\u4eba\u5931\u53bb\u4fe1\u5fc3<\/strong>\u662f\u4e00\u4ef6\u5f88\u56b4\u91cd\u7684\u4e8b\u3002\u7942\u56b4\u53b2\u5730\u6559\u5c0e\u4ed6\u5011\uff0c\u5931\u53bb\u8eab\u9ad4\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u6bd4\u72af\u4e0b\u5c07\u4ed6\u5011\u6392\u9664\u5728\u795e\u570b\u4e4b\u5916\u7684\u7f6a\u8981\u597d\u5f97\u591a\u3002\u9019\u9805\u6559\u5c0e\u7121\u7591\u80af\u5b9a\u4e86\u8036\u7a4c\u5728\u99ac\u592a\u798f\u97f3 5:20 \u4e2d\u63d0\u5230\u7684<strong>\u52dd\u65bc\u6587\u58eb\u548c\u6cd5\u5229\u8cfd\u4eba\u7684\u7fa9<\/strong>\uff0c\u9019\u662f\u6211\u5011\u6628\u5929\u7684\u6bcf\u65e5\u9748\u4fee\u7d93\u6587\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-bbbxk2974\">I posted that disciples are not challenged to try harder to be salt and light. Being salt and light was part of Jesus\u2019 call to discipleship in Matthew 4:18-22. They were called to accept and live out the new reality (being salt and light) in humility as saved sinners, unlike the scribes and Pharisees at the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-gmlas377\">\u6211\u767c\u6587\u8aaa\uff0c\u9580\u5f92\u4e26\u6c92\u6709\u88ab\u8981\u6c42\uff0c\u8981\u66f4\u52aa\u529b\u5730\u6210\u70ba\u9e7d\u548c\u5149\u3002\u4f5c\u9e7d\u4f5c\u5149\u662f\u8036\u7a4c\u5728\u99ac\u592a\u798f\u97f3 4 \u7ae0 18-22 \u7bc0\u4e2d\u9023\u5e36\u547c\u53ec\u9580\u5f92\u6642\u6240\u8cdc\u8207\u7684\u4e00\u90e8\u5206\u3002\u4ed6\u5011\u8b19\u5351\u5730\u4ee5\u5f97\u6551\u7684\u7f6a\u4eba\uff0c\u4f86\u63a5\u53d7\u4e3b\u7684\u547c\u53ec\u4e26\u6d3b\u51fa\u6709\u9e7d\u548c\u6709\u5149\u7684\u65b0\u751f\u547d\uff0c\u9019\u5c31\u662f\u8207\u7576\u6642\u7684\u6587\u58eb\u548c\u6cd5\u5229\u8cfd\u4eba\u7684\u4e0d\u540c\u4e4b\u8655\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-mj8y53044\">Then Jesus teaches them the righteousness that is greater than the scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 5:21-48. <strong>Perfect righteousness<\/strong>&nbsp;is impossible. Those who rely on their own merits should know this. God revealed the perfect love of enemies in that He loved those who were hostile to Him in their sinful rebellion. All who have God as their Heavenly Father are held to the same standard of <strong>perfect love.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-n0dq6384\">\u7136\u5f8c\u8036\u7a4c\u5728\u99ac\u592a\u798f\u97f35:21-48\u6559\u5c0e\u4ed6\u5011\u90a3\u66f4\u5927\u7684\u7fa9\uff0c\u65e2\u662f\u52dd\u65bc\u6587\u58eb\u548c\u6cd5\u5229\u8cfd\u4eba\u7684\u7fa9\u3002\u300c<strong>\u5b8c\u7f8e\u7684\u7fa9\u300d<\/strong>\u662f\u4e0d\u53ef\u80fd\u7684\u3002\u60f3\u9760\u81ea\u5df1\u52aa\u529b\u7684\u4eba\u61c9\u8a72\u8981\u6e05\u695a\u9019\u4e00\u9ede\u3002\u795e\u986f\u660e\u4e86\u5c0d\u4ec7\u6575\u5b8c\u7f8e\u7684\u611b\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u7942\u611b\u90a3\u4e9b\u5728\u7f6a\u5b7d\u53db\u9006\u4e2d\u8207\u7942\u70ba\u6575\u7684\u4eba\u3002\u6240\u6709\u4ee5\u4e0a\u5e1d\u70ba\u5929\u7236\u7684\u4eba\u90fd\u9075\u5b88<strong>\u300c\u5b8c\u7f8e\u7684\u611b\u300d<\/strong>\u7684\u76f8\u540c\u6a19\u6e96\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-kyyc83121\"><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ax32f393\">After knowing the texts in Mark 9:38-50, what are your initial impressions of Jesus\u2019 disciples, the person casting out demons, and most importantly, Jesus\u2019 views on how God operates? If we take the texts out of the context from Mark 9, Jesus\u2019 disciples\u2019 concerns seem legitimate, the unknow exorcist seems suspicious, and Jesus\u2019 teaching seems too exaggerated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ndyrz396\">\u5728\u4e86\u89e3\u4e86\u99ac\u53ef\u798f\u97f39:38-50\u7684\u7d93\u6587\u5f8c\uff0c\u4f60\u5011\u5c0d\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u9580\u5f92\u3001\u9a45\u9b3c\u7684\u4eba\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u6700\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u662f\u8036\u7a4c\u5c0d\u795e\u5982\u4f55\u904b\u4f5c\uff0c\u8d77\u521d\u7684\u5370\u8c61\u548c\u770b\u6cd5\u662f\u5982\u4f55\uff1f\u5982\u679c\u6211\u5011\u5f9e\u99ac\u53ef\u798f\u97f3\u7b2c9\u7ae0\u7684\u4e0a\u4e0b\u6587\u4e2d\u53d6\u51fa\u800c\u53ea\u55ae\u55ae\u770b\u9019\u6bb5\u7d93\u6587\uff0c\u8036\u7a4c\u9580\u5f92\u5011\u7684\u64d4\u6182\u4f3c\u4e4e\u662f\u5408\u7406\u7684\uff0c\u4e0d\u70ba\u4ed6\u5011\u6240\u77e5\u7684\u9019\u4f4d\u9a45\u9b3c\u8005\u4f3c\u4e4e\u5f88\u53ef\u7591\uff0c\u800c\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u6559\u5c0e\u4f3c\u4e4e\u904e\u65bc\u8a87\u5f35\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-uzwyb3325\"><strong>Before we dive into Jesus\u2019 teaching on how God operates,<\/strong>&nbsp;there are two things that we want to keep in mind.<strong>&nbsp;First, <\/strong>what just happened right before today\u2019s story<strong>&nbsp;in verses 33-37, <\/strong>which was the reading last Sunday? The disciples are concerned about being the greatest one. Such arrogant behavior leads to abuse and neglect of the lowly. Because of this unknown exorcist, their desire for control is revealed and their sense of security is threatened. The story has an ironic tone in the context of the larger narrative. Are the disciples attempting to prevent another from doing what they had just failed to do? In 9:18, they failed to cast out a bad spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-7xfpl405\"><strong>\u5728\u6211\u5011\u6df1\u5165\u63a2\u8a0e\u8036\u7a4c\u6559\u5c0e\u6709\u95dc\u795e\u662f\u5982\u4f55\u904b\u4f5c\u4e4b\u524d\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u8981\u7262\u8a18\u5169\u4ef6\u4e8b\u3002\u9996\u5148\uff0c<\/strong>\u5728\u4eca\u5929\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\u4e4b\u524d\uff0c\u4e5f\u5c31\u662f\u4e0a\u4e3b\u65e5\u7684\u7d93\u6587\u7b2c 33 \u81f3 37 \u7bc0\uff0c\u767c\u751f\u4e86\u4ec0\u9ebc\u4e8b\uff1f\u9580\u5f92\u95dc\u5fc3\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u5728\u4ed6\u5011\u7576\u4e2d\u8ab0\u5c07\u6210\u70ba\u6700\u5049\u5927\u7684\u90a3\u4e00\u4f4d\u3002\u9019\u7a2e\u50b2\u6162\u7684\u884c\u70ba\u5c07\u5f15\u767c\u51fa\u8650\u5f85\u548c\u5ffd\u8996\u4e0b\u7d1a\u968e\u5c64\u4eba\u7684\u884c\u70ba\u548c\u614b\u5ea6\u3002\u56e0\u70ba\u9019\u4f4d\u4e0d\u77e5\u540d\u7684\u9a45\u9b3c\u8005\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u7684\u63a7\u5236\u6b32\u986f\u9732\u4e86\u51fa\u4f86\uff0c\u5b89\u5168\u611f\u53d7\u5230\u4e86\u5a01\u8105\u3002\u9019\u500b\u6545\u4e8b\u5728\u66f4\u5927\u7684\u6558\u4e8b\u80cc\u666f\u4e0b\u5e36\u8457\u8af7\u523a\u7684\u610f\u5473\u3002\u9580\u5f92\u662f\u5426\u8a66\u5716\u963b\u6b62\u5225\u4eba\u505a\u4ed6\u5011\u4e4b\u524d\u6c92\u80fd\u505a\u6210\u7684\u4e8b\u60c5\u5462\uff1f\u56e0\u70ba\u57289:18\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u672a\u80fd\u8d95\u51fa\u90aa\u9748\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-i13kh3400\"><strong>Second, <\/strong>all this happened right after Jesus\u2019 teaching that the Son of Man would be betrayed, killed, and would rise again in verses 30-37. The glory-seeking disciples neither understood the message of being humbled to the cross nor accepted their pride of being Jesus\u2019 disciples coming to an end if their master&#8217;s prediction came true.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-xnkk6411\"><strong>\u5176\u6b21<\/strong>\uff0c\u9019\u4e00\u5207\u90fd\u767c\u751f\u5728\u8036\u7a4c\u5728\u7b2c 30 \u81f3 37 \u7bc0\u6559\u5c0e\u4eba\u5b50\u5c07\u88ab\u51fa\u8ce3\u3001\u6bba\u5bb3\u4e26\u5fa9\u6d3b\u7684\u9810\u8a00\u4e4b\u5f8c\u3002\u5c0b\u6c42\u69ae\u8000\u7684\u9580\u5f92\uff0c\u65e2\u4e0d\u7406\u89e3\u4f86\u5230\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u524d\u7684\u8b19\u5351\u7684\u4fe1\u606f\uff0c\u4e5f\u4e0d\u63a5\u53d7\u4ed6\u5011\u4e3b\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u9810\u8a00\u82e5\u662f\u6210\u771f\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u4f5c\u70ba\u8036\u7a4c\u8eab\u908a\u9580\u5f92\u7684\u9a55\u50b2\u5c31\u5c07\u7d50\u675f\u9019\u4ef6\u4e8b\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-7gt113471\">Instead of comforting them, <strong>Jesus teaches them how God works through whoever God chooses and gives rewards to whoever does good to believers.<\/strong>&nbsp;The message of the cross has to do with humility, not exclusivity. Stopping anyone who serves God in Jesus\u2019 name is a sign of being a clique. They were assuming that if Jesus\u2019 name is used, the unknown exorcist has to submit to Jesus\u2019s authority by staying with them and following Jesus in person. However, that\u2019s not how God operates. Let\u2019s think of ourselves, living in the 21st century, not following Jesus in person, and not belonging to the clique of the 1st twelve disciples. God\u2019s work doesn\u2019t need our permission or criticism on how it should work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-5tsgi418\">\u8036\u7a4c\u6c92\u6709\u5b89\u6170\u4ed6\u5011\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u6559\u5c0e\u4ed6\u5011<strong>\u795e\u662f\u5982\u4f55\u900f\u904e\u795e\u6240\u63c0\u9078\u7684\u4eba\u4f86\u4f5c\u5de5\uff0c\u4e26\u734e\u8cde\u90a3\u4e9b\u5c0d\u4fe1\u5f92\u884c\u5584\u7684\u4eba\u3002<\/strong>\u5341\u5b57\u67b6\u7684\u4fe1\u606f\u8207\u8b19\u5351\u606f\u606f\u76f8\u95dc\uff0c\u800c\u4e0d\u662f\u7528\u4f86\u6392\u64e0\u4ed6\u4eba\u3002\u963b\u6b62\u4efb\u4f55\u4ee5\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u540d\u4e8b\u5949\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7684\u4eba\u662f\u300c\u62c9\u5e6b\u7d50\u6d3e\u300d\u7684\u6a19\u8a8c\u3002\u9580\u5f92\u8a8d\u70ba\uff0c\u5982\u679c\u4f7f\u7528\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u540d\u5b57\uff0c\u9019\u4f4d\u672a\u77e5\u7684\u9a45\u9b3c\u8005\u5fc5\u9808\u8207\u4ed6\u5011\u5728\u4e00\u8d77\u4e26\u89aa\u81ea\u8ddf\u96a8\u8036\u7a4c\uff0c\u4ee5\u8868\u670d\u5f9e\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u6b0a\u5a01\u3002\u7136\u800c\uff0c\u795e\u4e26\u4e0d\u662f\u9019\u6a23\u904b\u4f5c\u7684\u3002\u8b93\u6211\u5011\u60f3\u60f3\u6211\u5011\u81ea\u5df1\uff0c\u751f\u6d3b\u572821\u4e16\u7d00\uff0c\u6c92\u6709\u89aa\u81ea\u8ddf\u96a8\u8457\u8036\u7a4c\uff0c\u4e5f\u4e0d\u5c6c\u65bc\u7b2c\u4e00\u6279\u90a3\u5341\u4e8c\u9580\u5f92\u7684\u6d3e\u7cfb\u3002\u795e\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u8981\u5982\u4f55\u904b\u4f5c\u4e0d\u9700\u8981\u6211\u5011\u7684\u8a31\u53ef\u6216\u662f\u6279\u8a55\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-pfd2k3544\"><strong>Conundrum<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-yhr5s3612\">It doesn\u2019t matter if we like Jesus\u2019 teaching on the way God works or not, that\u2019s totally up to God. Then Jesus concluded his teaching in Mark 9:49-50: \u201cFor everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-she9r426\">\u6211\u5011\u662f\u5426\u559c\u6b61\u8036\u7a4c\u7684\u6559\u5c0e\u4ee5\u53ca\u4e0a\u5e1d\u7684\u904b\u4f5c\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\u4e26\u4e0d\u91cd\u8981\uff0c\u9019\u5b8c\u5168\u53d6\u6c7a\u65bc\u4e0a\u5e1d\u3002\u7136\u5f8c\u8036\u7a4c\u5728\u99ac\u53ef\u798f\u97f3 9 \u7ae0 49-50 \u7bc0\u4e2d\u7e3d\u7d50\u4e86\u7942\u7684\u6559\u5c0e\uff1a\u300c\u56e0\u70ba\u5fc5\u7528\u706b\u7576\u9e7d\u9183\u5404\u4eba\u3002\u9e7d\u672c\u662f\u597d\u7684\uff0c\u4f46\u5982\u679c\u9e7d\u5931\u53bb\u4e86\u9e79\u5473\uff0c\u53c8\u5982\u4f55\u8abf\u5473\u5462\uff1f\u4f60\u5011\u88e1\u982d\u61c9\u7576\u6709\u9e7d\uff0c\u5f7c\u6b64\u624d\u80fd\u548c\u7766\u76f8\u8655\u3002\u300d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-8zuoo3750\">Salt is a common but very precious seasoning that we can\u2019t live without, not only for our health but also for the food we consume. In food, it\u2019s always easier to add more salt to fix the unsalted food that is already cooked, and it\u2019s much harder to reduce its saltiness. If it\u2019s fluid, we can add more water to dilute it. How about solid food? Every time this happens, I remember a funny theory that my dad came up with: Eat more rice to dilute what you have in your stomach.&nbsp;It&#8217;s all good. Jesus says that these people will go away into eternal punishment but the righteous into eternal life.&nbsp; Based on his comment, everyone in hell is salted or preserved in the fire. In our earthly life, fire consumes but in hell, fire preserves life to be burned eternally.
